Palenque Norte is a Burning Man theme camp inspired by the Palenque Entheobotany Seminars. The camp provides space for lectures on entheobotany and entheogenic compounds. Past lecturers include pioneering psychopharmacologists Sasha and Ann Shulgin; psychopharmacologist Jonathan Ott; writer and entheogen researcher Terence McKenna; psychoactive plant expert Christian Raetsch; Bob Montgomery, founder of the Botanical Preservation Corps; iboga expert Giorgio Samorini; chemist Michael Bock; and mycologist Paul Stamets. The lecture space is designed to mimic the atmosphere of the pool at Hotel Chan Kah Ruinas, where the original Palenque talks were given.[1] [2] [3]
The Palenque Entheobotany Seminars or Botanical Preservation Corps (BPC) Seminar on Ethnobotany and Chemistry of Psychoactive Plants[4] were a series of talks given near the ruins of Palenque, in Mexico at the Chan-Kah Hotel. [5]
The series brought together some of the most noted experts in entheogenic research, including Jonathan Ott, Deborah Mash, Alexander and Ann Shulgin, Brett Blosser, Manuel Torres, Ken Symington, Rob Montgomery, Christian Rätsch, and Terence McKenna.[4],[6] The spirit of the lectures is carried on at the Burning Man theme camp, Palenque Norte.
